Deep impact gospel
Wednesday 23rd July 2025
At the heart of the Gospel is not just a call to believe something different, but to become someone new. The good news of Jesus is not merely about going to heaven when we die—it is about being transformed at the deepest level of our identity while we live.
The resurrection of Jesus signals the launch of God’s new creation, and with it, a new humanity. When we place our faith in Christ, we are not simply receiving a ticket to heaven—we are stepping into a new reality, where our old selves are crucified and we are raised with Him into a new way of being human. Paul puts it plainly:
“If anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”
2 Corinthians 5:17 NIV
Jesus said:
‘Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.”
John 3:3 NIV
We often live from the outside in—allowing circumstances, past mistakes, or cultural expectations to define us. But in Christ, we are called to live from the inside out. Our true identity is not found in what we’ve done or what we have experienced, but rather, in what Christ has done for us and who He now says we are: sons and daughters of the King, co-heirs with Christ, carriers of His Spirit, citizens of heaven.
Modern culture constantly pressures us to “discover” or “create” ourselves, usually through achievement, consumption, or personal expression. But this pursuit often leaves us anxious and fragmented. The Gospel, however, offers us a received identity, not an achieved one. In John Mark Comer’s words:
“The Gospel is not about self-discovery; it’s about self-denial and Spirit-led transformation.”
When the Gospel takes root in a life, it does more than bring comfort—it reconstructs the person. It reframes our past with grace, anchors our present with purpose, and reorients our future with hope. Our identity is not defined by shifting culture, emotional highs, or the approval of others, but by the unshakeable truth: “You are in Christ, and Christ is in you.”
So let us live as those who have been remade. Let us shed false labels and embrace the deeper, more actual identity that only the Gospel can reveal. In Christ, we are not who we were. We are who He is calling us to become.
