Revival, revitalization and New Creation

Wednesday 18th June 2025

“Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.”
— Acts 3:19 (NIV)

Peter’s bold declaration in Acts 3:19 is not just a call to moral reform; it’s an invitation into the transforming story of God’s new creation. Following the miraculous healing at the temple gate, Peter addresses the crowd not with condemnation but with hope—a hope rooted in the resurrection of Jesus and the dawning of a new world.

This moment is a window into what the early church believed about the power of the gospel. It wasn’t simply about going to heaven when you die; it was about heaven breaking into earth, now. Peter’s call to “repent and turn to God” signals not just personal salvation but participation in God’s plan to renew and restore all things.

The resurrection of Jesus marked the beginning of God’s new creation amidst the old one. In Acts 3:19, the phrase “times of refreshing” refers not merely to spiritual renewal for individuals but to the in breaking of God’s restorative presence in history through the Spirit-filled church. It’s a foretaste of the final renewal of all things when Christ returns (see Acts 3:21).

This refreshing is both present and future. It is the Spirit-breathed renewal we can experience today through turning toward Christ, and it anticipates the day when justice, healing, and peace will fill the earth. This reminds us that when we align our lives with Jesus, we become active agents in that renewal, living signs of the Kingdom of God breaking into our world. His presence is ready to permeate every place!

So what does this mean for us, Church?

It means that repentance is not a dreary duty, but a liberating doorway. Turning to God wipes out sin and invites us into God’s renewing work within us, around us, and through us. It means that even in seasons of dryness or discouragement, God still offers times of refreshing through the presence of the risen Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit.

Let us not merely remember this as history. Let us receive it as an invitation. May this be a season of repentance and refreshing, where Christ meets us, renews us, and sends us.

Next Alpha Course Commencing | Wednesday 23rd July 2025 | 7:00pm

Alpha is a series of interactive sessions that create a safe and honest space, where people can explore life, faith and meaning.
Enjoy a meal with others, watch an Alpha Talk video and have an open discussion in a friendly and non-judgemental environment.

Connect

Connecting with others is important; friends gather around the kitchen table, meeting for coffee or catching up online. It’s no different at Alpha. All sessions start with a time to connect, relax and build friendships – whether in person or virtually.

Watch

The Alpha talks are designed to engage and inspire conversation. Each video talk is around thirty minutes long and explores important issues around faith and the basics of Christianity.

We address questions such as;

“Who is Jesus?”
“How can we have faith?”
“Why and how do I pray?”
“How does God guide us?”

Discuss

One of the most important parts of any Alpha Course is sharing thoughts and ideas in small groups. There’s no obligation to say anything, and there’s nothing you can’t share (seriously). It’s an opportunity to hear from others and contribute your own perspective in an honest, friendly, and respectful environment.
