Let’s Celebrate our Mothers
Wednesday 7th May 2025
As we approach Mother’s Day this coming Sunday, we pause to honour not only the mothers among us but also the deep and enduring significance of women in the mission of Jesus Christ. Far beyond sentiment, this day invites us to celebrate the spiritual legacy, courage, and strength that women have displayed in God’s unfolding story of redemption.
From the very beginning, women have played a vital role in the Kingdom of God. Think of Mary, the young girl who said “yes” to God and became the mother of our Saviour (Luke 1:38). Her obedience, bravery, and faith changed history. Consider the Samaritan woman at the well, who became the first evangelist to her people after encountering Jesus (John 4:28–30, 39). Or Mary Magdalene, who stood by the cross when others fled (John 19:25) and became the first witness of the resurrection — the one sent to tell the apostles (John 20:17–18).
In a culture where women were often silenced, Jesus elevated their dignity, welcomed their discipleship, and entrusted them with ministry. He reminded Martha that choosing to learn from Him, as Mary did, was “the better part” (Luke 10:41–42). In the early church, women like Lydia opened their homes to the gospel (Acts 16:14–15), Priscilla taught alongside Paul (Acts 18:26), and Phoebe was a deacon and benefactor (Romans 16:1–2).
Today, we continue to stand on the shoulders of women—mothers, grandmothers, daughters, sisters, and friends—who love fiercely (Proverbs 31:25–26), serve sacrificially (Romans 12:1), pray faithfully (1 Thessalonians 5:17), and carry the mission of Jesus with quiet tenacity and unshakable grace (2 Timothy 1:5).
This Sunday, we will take time in our gatherings to celebrate the beauty, strength, and calling of women. We will pray over the women in our midst, knowing that each one reflects the image of God (Genesis 1:27) and carries divine purpose (Ephesians 2:10). And we will also grieve with those for whom Mother’s Day is tender (Romans 12:15), trusting that God sees, heals, and holds each heart (Psalm 34:18).
Let us be a church where women flourish in every season and sphere of life, just as Jesus intended.

Child Dedication Services | Sunday 25th May 2025 | 9:00am & 11:00am
Child Dedication is simply the act of parents committing their child to the Lord. It is also a time of public declaration that they, with God’s help, will raise their child in the ways of the Lord. NB: Child Dedication is not baby Christaining or Baptism.
The Child Dedication segment is part of our regular service and requires the parents to bring their child to the front of the church at the appropriate time. We encourage siblings of the child to join in and we display a photo of your child on the screens so everyone can see (only first names are used).
If you are interested in your child being dedicated, please complete the Child Dedication Application Form, including uploading your child’s photo, by Friday May 16 so we can connect and provide relevant information.
