Choose an alternative culture to live in
'Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”'Matthew 28:16-20 NIV
Every nation on earth develops its own unique culture. Loosely defined culture is socially transmitted patterns of action and expression. Material culture refers to physical objects, such as dwellings, clothing, tools, and crafts. Culture also includes arts, beliefs, knowledge, and technology. When cultures form they develop disciplines – socially transmitted patterns – around which it find its security. When Jesus sends his disciples out on His mission he actually sends them to introduce a new culture…a culture that can best be named “The Kingdom of God”. Through the ages the Kingdom Jesus introduced was taught to people in many different ways and in many different cultures. The goal is not to usurp the current culture and act in a triumphalist attitude, but to influence through the attitude of serving while in this world. That is the surprizing strategy…having greater influence through serving in a greater way! Listen to Jesus’ expression of this new Kingdom of God way:
' Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. ' Matthew 5:5 NIV
This coming Sunday I will speak on what we believe should be our discipleship framework as Berwick Church of Christ. We offer people an alternative culture to live in – The Kingdom of God – and it must be taught! It connects you with a bigger purpose to live for and sets you up for a significant life.

Bookings on Sundays & attendance
We have seen such wonderful attendance over the last few months, and we continue to grow in numbers every week, we praise God for this momentum.
At this time it is critical that we maximise our space and we will be adding more chairs to allow for further opportunities to distance ourselves as necessary. Please come early and fill from the front first to allow others to easily find room as they enter.
Managing our bookings has some challenges, and the most helpful way you can support us is to ensure you attend when you book, that you do not book when you can’t come, and you inform us if you’ve booked but for some reason cannot make it, by emailing us at [email protected]. Thank you for help, hope to see you on Sunday.
AGM
Young Adults Camp
Our community of young adults will be coming together for a weekend retreat at the end of May and this is an incredible opportunity for them to gather together, build strong relationships and grow in their relationship with Jesus.
You can help our young adults maximise this opportunity by sponsoring a young person who would not have the resources to attend, but would however benefit greatly from the weekend experience, and the generosity of our church family. The camp cost is $150.
If you are blessed to be in a position to sponsor someone, or even several, please email [email protected] and inform us of your amazing gift.
Merge!
On Friday night, we had just over 200 youth gather together for a Merge event hosted at Waverley Christian College. Youth groups from the Casey/Cardinia area of all different denominations joined together for a combined youth event. The night kicked off with worship lead by the amazing Merge band and was followed by Dave Edgar (State Director of Youth Alive) sharing his incredibly powerful testimony. We saw many teenagers giving their lives to Jesus and encountering God.
GTM and Search to Find feedback
The combined power for experiencing real life transformation and growth is huge with over 30 people involved in The Search to Find, Evangelism course and the Growing to Maturity (GTM) Discipleship course. Both groups launched on Tuesday night 27th of April beginning with a meal, then split into their own areas for the videos and discussion.
Is amazing to watch how quickly the groups are forming, and the facilitators and bringers are stepping up into their roles. One of the most effective avenues for growth for believers, who are one step in front of someone else, is to help lead them. We are always looking for more facilitators and helpers.
Our goal is to see Search and GTM groups start most terms and in as many places as possible. This Sunday lunch we will begin a new Search to Find group for Clyde. If you know someone distant to God or new to Faith who lives in the general area, why not bring them along. Bookings close Saturday 5pm.
