Real Family

Since the beginning of creation, the concept of family as instituted by God, has been doing it tough. We see from before the birth of Cain and Abel, how Adam and Eve turned on each other when under pressure. From there things went wayward with increasing intensity. To redeem family humanity followed its typical strategies: Let’s resist it as a fundamental need for all, let’s redefine its composition and purpose and lately, let’s ridicule its nuclear form as old-fashioned and out of date.

A couple of years ago a hit TV series introduced a myriad of family orientations and labeled it “Modern Family”. The series goes a long way in normalizing the pain brought about by family problems…which made it very relevant for a world with very few ideal families.

In our new series “REAL FAMILIES” , we will look at the reality that all families are in some sense “REAL” rather than “IDEAL” and how we can have deep fulfilling nuclear as well as extended family lives despite being imperfect:

'Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. '
