Hope against all hope…for families!

Hope against all hope…for families!

Friday 24th February 2023

The landscape of possible challenges for families runs far and wide. It is so easy to feel overwhelmed in light of these challenges. No matter what the stage of your family, or the phase you’re going through as a family, the need for healthy leadership in the family is still there. Knowing that the ideal family is…an ideal…helps to curb the sense of shame, guilt, and even pain the enemy so desperately wants to use to intimidate us.

In order for families to survive this day and age (whether nuclear family, single-parent family or blended family) we need a few simple but profound guiding principles and not a thousand rules! I’d like to propose the following three principles to govern your family forward in this world:

  • Remain hopeful that there is a way to improve the current condition of your family.
  • No matter where you are as a family: If you understand the “ideal”, you can find the best way toward it.
  • The gap between where you are and where you want to be is the size of the opportunity to grow character as an individual and as a family.

These truths are beautifully set out in the book of Romans:

Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.

Romans 5:3-5 NIV

This coming Sunday we will look into how families can flourish in spite of heartache, whether it be divorce, death, or any other kind of tragedy. If you know of a family that needs a plan…invite them to this coming Sunday service and help us bring transformation to marriages and families through the power of the Gospel!

Young Families Camping | Friday 3rd March – Sunday 5th March

There's still some sites left if you would like to camp with us at Warburton Holiday Park on March 3-5.  Camping with other families is just so much fun for kids and adults, and there's always someone to borrow an egg or a can opener from if you left yours at home!  We've chosen a beautiful area near a river, there's a great rail trail and a fantastic water park close by and our definition of “young families" is a very loose one!

If camping isn't possible for you this time, why not plan to bring a picnic lunch and enjoy some time with us during the day on Saturday 4th March at the water park?  We are praying for great weather!
