Friday 3rd February 2023
Since the beginning of creation, the concept of family as instituted by God, has been doing it tough. We see from before the birth of Cain and Abel, how Adam and Eve turned on each other when under pressure. From there things went wayward with increasing intensity. To redeem family humanity followed its typical strategies: Let’s resist it as a fundamental need for all, let’s redefine its composition and purpose and lately, let’s ridicule its nuclear form as old-fashioned and out of date.
A couple of years ago a hit TV series introduced a myriad of family orientations and labeled it “Modern Family”. The series goes a long way in normalizing the pain brought about by family problems…which made it very relevant for a world with very few ideal families.
In our new series “REAL FAMILIES” starting this Sunday, we will look at the reality that all families are in some sense “REAL” rather than “IDEAL” and how we can have deep fulfilling nuclear as well as extended family lives despite being imperfect:
'Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. '
Romans 5:3-5 NIV
Let’s see this series as an opportunity to invite people into a safe place where they can find ageless guidance from the Scriptures on how families can flourish.

Playgroup | Join our team
Playgroup starts this week! Our team is excited about the possibilities for 2023!
With 7 groups and almost 100 families we will soon have a waiting list for the first time since before Covid 19. The only thing stopping us running an eighth group on a Thursday or Friday in the middle of the day (11.30-1.00) is a “core group” made up of a child-free helper or two and some Christian mums. Training and support provided of course!
If you’re already in a group but would like to help by being part of a new one or have never been involved in playgroup but want to find out more about connecting with one of our existing groups or a new group please get in touch via our website or by talking to me directly (0403 822 324 or in the foyer).
